Here comes week 5

Kia ora all,

Thank you to all the families who made it to our social evening at the whale pool in New Brighton last Friday. It was great to see the children hanging out and having heaps of fun. Even more so it was a good time for parents to meet each other and get to know the amazing community that Ao Tawhiti Unlimited Discovery is.

Tomorrow sees the start of two weeks of swimming for our community in the afternoons. Please ensure your child has togs, goggles and towel each day. They will also need sunhats, raincoats if the weather doesn’t play nicely and good walking shoes to get there and back. Thank you to all the parents who are helping us get there.

Tomorrow night at 7.30pm Niki and I will be running a training session for parents on how to use our Learning Management System (LMS), the app Seesaw (predominantly used in years 1-6) and EOTC Risk management (all parents helping on trips are required to have attended one of these). This meeting will be on the Discovery Campus. Please feel free to bring something yummy to share, or even a bottle of wine!It may be useful to you to bring a laptop or tablet so you can trial what you’ve learnt, and ask any on the spot questions. Please follow this link to let us know that you are coming.

You will have seen an email from Niki calling for offers for PINs workshops. If you have any questions about this please ask.
You should also have an “expression of interest” form for our camp on the evening of the 19th March. Please return this asap.
As promised at our community meeting, I have created parent help posters to give you some ideas of how you can support at school. These are displayed in homebases and in the shared space. Thank you to all the parents who have been in during the last few weeks – we rally do value your contribution.
