AO TAWHITI BEGINNING SCHOOL INFO FOR NEW STUDENTS AND WHĀNAU IN 2021
We are so looking forward to meeting you next week!
This communication outlines the important information for the first week of school and has some further links you may find helpful.
MONDAY 1 FEBRUARY – Drop in any time between 9:30am and 3:00pm for Homebase Learning Advisor selection
This day is an opportunity to meet some of our Homebase Learning Advisors (HBLAs) before you make your HBLA choice. Please drop in any time between the above hours that work for you to meet these people. Both students and their family are welcome to be involved in this process. As the staff are meeting until 9:30am, please do not come earlier as we will not have anyone available to talk to you.
Before you come in, do have a look at the HBLA profiles to see if there are any HBLAs in particular you would like to meet. https://aotawhiti.school.nz/homebase-selections-2021
IMPORTANT – THE FORM FOR HBLA SELECTION then opens after you have visited at 3:00pm and MUST BE COMPLETED OVERNIGHT so it is ready by 8:00am Tuesday 2 February for the Senior Leadership Team to allocate Homebases. You are able to select up to three HBLAs. https://forms.gle/YuR9YHjHqnf1GG9dA
For those families who chose a HBLA last year, you will be able to check this information here. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QAVF-wjiBKbtPJknSlfU96qOU6w0SY3bBaTKCyYzwM4/edit#gid=0
TUESDAY 2 AND WEDNESDAY 3 FEBRUARY – School closed for teacher only days and families book their Individual Education Meetings from home
The school will confirm with you your HBLA for 2021 on Tuesday 2 February and you will be able to book an IEM (Individual Education Meeting) for Thursday 4 or Friday 5 February. This is where the student and family sit with their HBLA to create a learning plan (including subjects) for Term 1 and is a particular expectation of living our special character. https://aotawhiti.school.nz/iems-please-book-one/
THURSDAY 4 & FRIDAY 5 FEBRUARY – Students and their families come in for IEM meetings
School is open for IEMs and students with their families are only required at school for their IEM. Supervision for Y1-6 students only will be provided during the IEM days, please complete this form if supervision is needed. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScc8AkBlRAOwauyQ1km30SmLyvXDa9uMi1_bWwPqe0wICjawg/viewform
