Ao Tawhiti Unlimited Discovery is a special character area school based in central Christchurch. We have a fundamental tenet that the child is central in directing their own learning so that the enthusiasm and love of learning is retained. Our students value the choice, flexibility and respect that our style of education provides them.

Our key values are whanaungatanga, kaha, aroha, whakaute and tiakitanga.

We are fortunate in being based in the central city, as this means that we have access to the resources and facilities that are available in the city.

We are looking for a fixed term kaiako to join our Years 7 – 13 community. We are looking for a kaiakio who has excellent relational practice and strong pedagogical knowledge. The successful candidate will be able to work in a flexible learning environment and have the confidence to support students to be self-directive in their learning. A strength in Māori Performing Arts will also be advantageous.

If you are interested in joining our relief team we would love to hear from you.

Our school uses StaffSync to manage their relievers. Please download the StaffSync app  from this website.

After you register, you then request to be a reliever at our school.  From there, our Relief Coordinator will review the details and be in touch.  The school will also need to go through their own personnel checks and processes as part of this.

Please note we are an area school as we have Years 1 to 13 students.  This means if you have been set up in Education Payroll as either a primary or secondary reliever and not an area school reliever we will need to also do this.

If you are interested in casual relieving or short term contracts, please email our SENCO including a cover letter and CV. Paula may then be in contact if any vacancies of this type arise.

Thank you for your interest in vacancies at Ao Tawhiti Unlimited Discovery
