Derived Grade Exams

We will be running our practice exams for NCEA Levels 2 and 3 during the final week of this term (the week beginning September 15). This means that Year 12 and 13 students will be on study leave and there will be no NCEA Level 2 and 3 classes running. Year 11 students (or younger) who have a Level 2 or 3 exam are entitled to a day’s study leave on the day before their exam. Please communicate with the HBLA about this if it applies.

Derived grade exams offer an important opportunity for students to get targeted feedback as they prepare for the NZQA external exams. They also allow students to apply for a derived grade if they miss an external exam due to extraordinary circumstances. Derived grade exams for Level 1 subjects will take place in class.

The NZQA exam period in Term 4 runs from 4-28 November. The NZQA exam timetable is available here. The last day of classes before study leave for NCEA Level 2 and 3 students is 29 October. NCEA Level 1 classes continue through until 7 November.
