I joined Ao Tawhiti going into year 5, and it’s the best decision of my education yet. The thing that drew me here in the first place was the ability to learn at whatever level was best for me, and what absolutely kept me was the variety of subjects and the people. I’ve had a long-running focus on Media, English, and Art, which I’ve progressed a lot with through this school, but one of the things I’ve enjoyed the most is being able to take classes on Philosophy.

One of my passion subjects has always been Philosophy, although I’ve never been able to take it as a class. The Philosophy classes run at Ao Tawhiti are one of the most engaging classes I’ve been in, and have helped me progress really well through my NCEA, just 2 credits away from finishing NCEA level 1 at year 10.

Speaking of NCEA, the English, Art, and Maths classes I’ve taken where I’m working directly on NCEA have been great, and I’ve actually enjoyed maths classes for the first time ever.

I’ve had some very helpful teachers, and incredibly supportive friends, both of which have helped propel my learning. The years I’ve spent at this school have been some of my most enjoyable, and I’m looking forward to the rest I have before university, which this school has helped me towards.
