We are looking forward to welcoming you all to our annual matariki celebration this Friday.
Here is the programme for the evening:
3.00 decorate the school, soup for afternoon tea
3.30 workshops – we still need parents to run some workshops*, see below
4.45 tidy up
5.00 performances** – more needed, see below, followed by lantern parade
6.00 karakia, hangi and shared kai. Whānau are invited to bring some kai to share, and enjoy the hangi. We are thrilled to have secured use of the CCC hangi pits on Kilmore St this year. Clint will be hangi master with the help of some students, and with the generous donations everyone has offered there should be plenty to share.
Tidy up
*Workshops – in the past we have had printing, soap carving, flax weaving, Māori art, kite making, lanterns. So far we have God’s eyes, tin can lanterns and the memory room.
