Due to a staff member leaving, we are looking for a learning assistant to join our friendly and supportive team for approximately 20 hours per week in a permanent capacity. There is some flexibility depending on availability.
Our learning assistants work closely with students who require help due to specific learning needs, primarily literacy and numeracy skills, and/or specific learning needs. This role will likely involve taking individuals and small groups for structured literacy intervention. You will work positively and constructively with students and learning advisors to engage and accelerate young learners to support them to achieve. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to work with a wide range of people.
We are seeking someone who is positive, empathetic, hardworking, independent and flexible. An understanding of learning needs would be an advantage but not essential.
We strongly recommend anyone wanting to work at Ao Tawhiti to come and have a tour, because we operate a little differently to other schools.
