Whānau Update 10th March 2022

10 March, 2022

Kia ora koutou

Thank you to all the caregivers for keeping in close contact with the school. This helps us monitor our attendance accurately and support students who are isolating and unwell with their off site learning. Thank you also to everyone who is keeping their children at home if they are unwell and getting their families tested.

On a positive note we are sharing our school newsletter on Friday so we can celebrate all the great learning and activities that are happening within our school at the moment. Keep an eye out for this.

On a less positive note we have had more confirmed cases since the last update. One is a learning advisor and we will be in touch with the Home Base of that staff member. The staff member was last on site on Tuesday March 8.

We have also had a parent volunteer test positive. They were with the Year 7 – 8 community and were last on site on Thursday 3 March.

We have also had confirmation from the following:

  • Year 13 student who was last on site on Tuesday 8 March
  • Year 11 student was was last on site on Tuesday 8 March
  • Year 7 student who was last on site on Thursday 3 March
  • Year 6  student who was last on site on Friday 4 March
  • Year 4 student who was last on site on Wednesday 9 March

Only household contacts need to isolate. Everyone else should monitor for symptoms and get a test if they start to get unwell. The government has now announced that the isolation period has been reduced from 10 days to 7 days.

Thank you to everyone for supporting your children to wear masks at school. Remember we have spare masks on every floor of the building.

We have the medical masks provided by the Ministry of Education. We are aware that the N25 masks also provide excellent protection, however these can be costly so we wanted to let people know that they can be bought as a ten pack and reused by putting them in a sealed bag for 72 hours. They can provide a closer fit around the face.

We now have a dedicated email address for any Covid related questions. Covid@aotawhiti.school.nz

Take care
