I started in 2018 in Year Seven and am on track to gain University Entrance this year. I am in Year Twelve. I have liked being able to access NCEA early and to have choice with the classes that I can take. I have enjoyed the STAR course as I did the University of Canterbury Philosophy class. I liked having the flexibility in my timetable to be able to join an external Kapa Haka group. Before I came here I was a bit rigid and wasn’t so good at Self-Directed Learning and operating without a school bell. Over time I have developed independence and see the importance of having motivation. In the real world no one is going to necessarily chase you around and you have to be able to do your own thing. This school prepares you for that. This school is what you make of it.
