COVID-19 ALERT LEVEL 2 – LETTER TO WHĀNAU

Kia ora koutou

As I am sure you are aware the government has placed Auckland into level three and the rest of the country into level two for seven days, beginning on the 28th February at 6am. The government has stated that schools remain open during level two.

We will closely follow the advice of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education. Their advice is that at level two the disease is contained but there is still risk of community transmission. It is safe for children and staff to attend school, although staff and children vulnerable to severe illness may choose to work from home.

Under level two the majority of events can go ahead. Students aren’t required to wear face masks, however they will be required to wear face coverings if they are travelling on public transport. We will support all students and families who choose to wear a mask. We will keep in touch with students and whānau regarding school trips that include interacting with external organizations.

If you, or your child are sick then we please ask that you stay at home. If you have COVID-like symptoms then please seek medical advice. If you have been in close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19 then please self-isolate. Please continue to use the COVID tracing app to support the ability to track potential community transmission. This includes using the tracing app if you come into the school building.

We will continue to encourage public health measures with our students, including good hand hygiene, coughing and sneezing etiquette and regularly cleaning and disinfecting high touch surfaces.

Please be in touch if you have any concerns, or queries.
