Calling all students, LAs, Learning Support Staff and Parents!
We would LOVE to get some Lunchtime Clubs off the ground this year at Ao Tawhiti.
Some ideas for clubs that students have already said they’d like to see happening are:
- Environment
- Photography
- Calligraphy/ drawing/ arts & crafts/ painting
- Theatre Sports for juniors & seniors/ Glee!/ music/ choir
- Board Games/ Card Games
- Debating
- Book Club/ TV Club/ Movie Club
- Yoga/ Gymnastics
- Movie making
- Table Tennis
- Ancient Hebrew writing
- Coding
- Dungeons and Dragons
- Magic the Gathering
A handful of students have said they’re keen to run a lunchtime club but in order to make them happen we need more of you, and some adults as some clubs will require adult supervision.
Running a lunchtime club can be done by individuals, in pairs or small groups. If you are keen to develop your leadership skills and organise a club to run one lunchtime a week, there is a meeting next Monday, 1 March, at 12.20 in 1.5. Come along, find out more and be inspired to show our values of kaha (being brave and trying new things), whanaungatanga (helping create a sense of community) and aroha (spread the love!), not to mention our Guiding Principles of ‘Everyone is a learner and everyone is a teacher’ and ‘Learners are encouraged to be creative, innovative and take risks’.
Our LAs do not get much of a break throughout the day, so we are asking for parental help to get this initiative off the ground. If you can’t make Monday’s meeting, but are keen to be involved, please contact Niki on 027 226 4017.
Be brave. Take a risk. What have you got to lose?!
