Whānau Update 13th February 2022

13 February, 2022

Kia ora koutou

I hope everyone is staying warm and dry in this wet weather.

Huge Welcome to our new Sports’ Coordinator – Megan Gould. She is already planning a number of sports’ events for lunchtime and internal competitions as external sport is limited due to the traffic light guidelines.

Thank you to everyone who contributed and participated in the Hapori Taster Day and Home Base excursions on Friday. It was a great day that reinforced our belief that education can occur beyond the classroom in a whole range of ways as students spent the day on the Climate Action Campus or explored the inner city and trialled a range of options for future Friday learning.

Students need to sign up for a Hapori which is the Friday block that runs from 11:20 – 3:00pm.

Here is the link to the options and the form to enrol in a Hapori class. Friday Hapori Sign Up

Thank you also for supporting our school wide ban on peanuts and peanut products, such as muesli bars. This helps keep our students with allergies safe.

There will be a PPTA Branch Paid Union Meeting for years 7 – 13 teaching staff on Wednesday 23 February at 1pm. The Employment Relations Act requires our Board to release teachers to attend this meeting. There will be no afternoon class for students from Years 7 – 13 on Wednesday 23 February, however there will be supervision provided for students if required.

Please fill in this form if you require supervision for your child between 1:00pm – 2:00pm on this day.

Supervision Required

Years 1 – 6 classes will run as normal.

Covid Update

Thank you to all for wearing masks when you are on site at school and for encouraging your tamariki to wear masks.  Mask wearing keeps us safe as Omicron is a respiratory illness that is spread through droplets in the air. Mask wearing also allows us to continue operating at ‘full capacity’ for as long as possible as mask wearing will be a contributing factor in the Public Health Unit’s identification of close contacts who have to self-isolate – if we have a confirmed COVID case within our kura.

We have masks available at the front desk if students or visitors forget to bring a mask.

Thank you also for signing in and using the contact tracing app. You are able to sign in on your phone using ‘School Apps’. This app is downloadable from your app store and we also use it to send out notifications to whānau.

As always, please be in touch with your child’s Home Base Learning Advisor if you have any questions. We will keep whānau updated if anything changes.

Have a great week.

Ngā mihi nui
