Term 3 IEMS (Individual Education Meetings) are scheduled for Friday 3.7 & Monday 20.7. The IEM is the most important element of a student’s Learning Journey and it is vital that you book one. For our IEM booking process we are using the “School Interviews” system. This link should take you straight to the booking page.  https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/code?code=nunym However if […]

It is with more than a little regret that I have to announce the resignation of our founding Director, Steven Mustor. His resignation takes effect at the end of 2020. Steven began in the role of Director in November 2013. His initial brief was to establish Ao Tawhiti Unlimited Discovery by merging Discovery 1 and […]

It depends.  Each year we find that we have slightly different demands at each year level.  In general we ballot at all year levels. There is usually more demand at Y1-6.

Ao Tawhiti is a state school.  There is no cost to attend.

No.  We don’t take bribes and we can’t work outside of our enrolment scheme

A JP draws names.  The ballot is a formal process designed to ensure that we are seen to be fair to all those who enter the ballot.

Ao Tawhiti’s zone encompasses Christchurch city. If you live outside of Christchurch you can still enrol, but you will be balloted after the students within the zone.

One of the current requirements for schools across NZ is to be able to Contact Trace all of the people who come onto a school site. We need to meet this requirement. If you intend to come onto the school site for any reason you will need to provide your details. With that in mind […]

Friday 15 May It’s been a fantastic couple of days working with the staff of Ao Tawhiti Unlimited Discovery. We’ve been hard at work making sure that school is ready for all of our students to return to school. We’re all excited about seeing you all again and transitioning back to learning at Ao Tawhiti. […]

Here’s the Online Learning schedule for Week 4 of 2.1 (18.5 – 22.5.20). While we are expecting that the majority of students will be back onsite next Monday (18.5.20), we recognise that a few students may still be learning from home for a variety of reasons. You will notice that the timetable has changed. Please […]

What an awesome moment it was to hear that as a country we are another step closer to returning to normal. With the PM confirming the move to Alert Level 2, there are a few things I can share right now to help with your preparation for this week and next. There is obviously going […]

The PM’s announcement about what the country would look like at Alert Level 2 provided us with a great deal of insight into what learning at schools will look like. The MOE is still in the process of finalising the exact details but we have enough information for myself and the staff to start planning […]

This week, we are surveying parents/caregivers and whānau, as well as Learning Advisors and students. We’d like to capture our school community’s experiences of working remotely over the last six weeks.  Our goal is to capture the benefits and the challenges of operating remotely to help us move forward and improve as a school. Your […]

Friday 1 May Anniversary Tomorrow marks a pretty special anniversary for Ao Tawhiti Unlimited Discovery. On 2 May 2019 we opened for students at our CBD premises. For those of you who came in for your IEM on that Thursday, you’ll remember that things were still in a state of flux (builders were all over […]

Hey guys. Thanks to an amazing response from the Ao Tawhiti community we have some money coming in to buy food vouchers for those members of our community who may need some some extra help at the moment. We know that some people may have less income or may have less access to support networks and […]

Wednesday 28 April Welcome back from the longer than usual weekend. I hope you’ve all had a great start to Level 3. I found it really interesting how bizarre it felt to be in a car. It was also amazing how quickly it felt normal being back on site. Several of the LAs used yesterday’s […]
